The construction industry has recently been facing structural issues, such as stagnant productivity, the deterioration of construction quality, and an increase in industrial accidents due to changes in the demographic structure.

Sejong University was preliminarily selected as a new recipient university for the 2026 G-Lamp Program, which was organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

Sejong University ranked 6th in Korea and 306th in the world in the 2026-2027 Best Global Universities Rankings, which was announced by the world-renowned university ranking organization US News & World Report due to its excellent outcomes in the categories of international research collaboration and research impact.

Sejong University is initiating a partnership with LIG Defense & Aerospace, which will hereinafter be referred to as LIG D&A, to train experts who will lead the future defense industry.

Professor Lee Jong-hyuk from the Department of Information Security was appointed as the inaugural convener of a working group that leads the international standardization of uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) cybersecurity under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

A research team led by Professor Kwon Bo-Mi from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was selected for the 2026 Basic Research Laboratory Support Program (Pioneering Type), which is funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The Association of Italian Researchers and Scholars in Korea (AIRSSK) included Professor Graziano Rossi from the Department of Physics and Astronomy serving as its inaugural president held the 1st Italy-Korea 4F Science Conference on May 21 at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) headquarters in Daejeon.

Jang Ye-rin, who is a student on Professor Koo Young-hyun’s research team from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, received the Outstanding Paper Award at the international conference INTCOM 2026.

Jeon Seung-yoon is a student from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, who was admitted in 2021, and Kim Je-hee is a student from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, who was admitted in 2023, received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2026 Korea Institute of Intelligent Systems (KIIS) Spring Conference, which was held at Jeju National University from May 14 to 16.

A paper was co-authored by Shim Dae-hoon, who is a student from the Department of AI-Convergence Electronics Engineering. He is the first author that has been published in the international journal Measurement (IF 5.6) as a student.
